Teresa (Teri) Schweitzer is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Louisiana State University (2024) and a Bachelor’s in Dietetics from Oklahoma State University (2000). Teri’s journey into social work was inspired by her diverse background, which includes many years in customer service before transitioning to the field of mental health.
A native of the Southeastern United States, Teri relocated to Alaska in 2019, where she has since cultivated her passion for client-centered care. In 2021, Teri began working at Sunshine Community Health Center as a Behavioral Health Administrative Coordinator, where her exposure to professional and dedicated therapists sparked a deep interest in pursuing a career in social work. This new direction led her to complete her master’s degree while still working and fulfilling her practicum hours at Sunshine. Her time at Sunshine allowed her to gain valuable insight into the integration of behavioral health and medical care. She employs evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to provide compassionate support. Teri has a special interest in trauma care and parenting, areas where she is dedicated to helping individuals and families heal and grow.
Outside of her professional life, Teri enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, fishing, and developing her skills in fiber arts, a practice that helps her stay grounded and balanced. She remains committed to providing holistic, effective therapy that empowers clients to overcome life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.
