Sara Heller, LPN, is a compassionate and skilled nurse who plays an integral role at Sunshine Community Health Center. After completing her schooling at Pine Technical and Community College in Minnesota, where she graduated with Phi Theta Kappa honors, Sara has accumulated nearly 10 years of nursing experience. She is Foot Care & Wound Care Certified and also holds PALS and ACLS certifications. Throughout her career, Sara has worked extensively with elderly patients and cherishes hearing their amazing stories.
Currently, Sara sees patients on Mondays and Wednesdays in Willow, and Thursdays in Talkeetna. She also serves as the Supervisor for both SCHC Labs and the Medical Assistants at both locations, ensuring that the teams operate smoothly and effectively. Her leadership extends to daily huddles where patient needs are reviewed and the team prepares to provide exceptional care. Additionally, Sara plays an essential role in wound care, Medicare Annual Wellness Visits, and other vital nursing responsibilities, always stepping in wherever needed on the clinical floor.
Outside of her clinical duties, Sara is a proud mother of three children, a loving wife, and the owner of three Boston Terriers. Her family moved to Alaska in 2021, and they enjoy spending time outdoors, whether they are 4-wheeling, fishing, or capturing the beauty of Alaska through photography.
Sara’s passion for helping others, particularly in rural communities, is a driving force behind her work at SCHC. In addition to her nursing responsibilities, she has been instrumental in expanding our lab operations and immunization clinics, ensuring that we provide vital services in our communities and beyond traditional office visits. Her dedication to increasing access to care and supporting the health and well-being of patients of all ages is unmatched.
