Welcoming Back Abby Bradley, BSN, IBCLC – Family Care Manager

Sunshine Community Health Center is proud to welcome Abby Bradley back to our team as the new Family Care Manager. Abby is no stranger to SCHC—she first joined us in 2003, shortly after moving to Alaska, and worked in various roles over the years before continuing her career in obstetric nursing at Mat-Su Regional.

Abby’s path to healthcare started on the East Coast, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maine. “I started with my passion for OB in Maine, and within a year, I followed adventure to Alaska,” she recalls. That spirit of adventure and her love for caring for families led her to Sunshine, where she built early connections with patients and the community.

For the past two decades, Abby has dedicated herself to maternal and family health, gaining certification in Inpatient OB and Electronic Fetal Monitoring, and most recently becoming a lactation consultant (IBCLC). “Over the last 20-plus years, I’ve built a collection of skills, and I knew I wanted to bring them back to serving my community,” she says of her decision to return to SCHC.

In her new role, Abby will provide hands-on care while leading the development of Sunshine’s Family Care Management program. She describes her vision: “My goal is to improve both the quantity and the quality of care—from family planning through pregnancy, postpartum, and on to early childhood. I’ll begin with care for and providing education to pregnant and postpartum people, in collaboration with providers and staff, while we look at how to grow the services we provide.”

A key piece of Abby’s work will be improving care accessibility for Upper Valley families. “I’m so excited about my role at SCHC because my vision is to give our community the option for the best care for their growing family right here in the Upper Valley,” she shares. “We’re also working to improve connections and communications with Lower Valley resources so that people can seamlessly access great, comprehensive care—with less time on the road. Increased accessibility for all is an important part of the Family Care Management program.”

Outside of her professional life, Abby has deep roots in the Upper Su Valley, where she has lived since 2003 with her husband. Together they are raising two daughters. “We love to be outside—hiking, camping, boating, fishing, skiing, you name it,” Abby says with a smile. “We also cherish our adventures outside of Alaska, but this valley is truly home.”

Please join us in giving a warm welcome back to Abby Bradley. We’re grateful for her experience, her compassion, and her commitment to building a stronger future for families in our community.
