If you need a Medicaid Ride for the group, please let your OBOT team know. We require 10 days' notice to ensure that our staff has enough time to coordinate your ride. If you do not let us know, and you tell us outside of that 10-day period, we will not be able to coordinate your ride and it will be your full responsibility to find transportation.

Partnership with Alaskan Aids Assistance Association (Four A's)

Sunshine Community Health Center is partnering with 4A’s to bring harm reduction supplies to both the Willow and Talkeetna Clinics. We are in early stages of developing this relationship and how this will look in our community. The goal of partnering with Four A’s is to provide harm reduction kits to our community, either at our Talkeetna and Willow Clinic, or while located in the community, which is planned to be at each clinic parking lot biweekly. More details relating to dates/times and how to access this service will be coming soon.

If you know of someone who may benefit from this, please feel free to share this information with them. Once our details are finalized, we will be sure to share with you so that you can pass along to community members you know. This is a great opportunity to bring preventative methods to our community and increase health outcomes in the area. Flyers will be provided as soon as the details are ironed out that will provide more information.

Did you know about the opioid distribution settlement funds coming to Alaska?

As of July 18, a resolution was passed to begin allocating $2.3 million in opioid distribution settlement funds. After the close of the public forum hearings, and reviewing the surveys sent to community members, it was decided to build grants that will aid programs that are working on treatment, prevention, harm reduction, and recovery. The focus of the grants will be 30% treatment, 30% prevention, 10% harm reduction, 10% recovery, with the remaining funds being used for education and training. The funds will be rolled out over the course of 18 years, each year distributing $50,000-$150,000 through 40 separate grants. Organizations will be able to apply under one specific area and have the ability to renew while keeping data on how the funds are used and its outcomes. -Source, Alaska Public Media, published 26 July 2023.

Other therapies are available for addiction treatment!

Other services are available to individuals who are struggling with addiction. We offer an Addiction/Recovery group for individuals looking for additional skills in relapse prevention and addiction treatment. This is an open group for any who would like to participate. We also provide comprehensive assessments and referrals to residential and inpatient treatment for individuals identifying they are ready for treatment.
